What are College Career Academies?

College Career Academies are a partnership among Iowa Western Community College, Loess Hills Area Education Agency 13, the region’s high schools, and local business and industry.

Our mission is to develop the regional workforce by preparing students to be college and career ready to compete in a global, high-tech marketplace.

What role does an employer play in College Career Academies?

Employers provide workplace learning opportunities so that students can make the relevant connection between education and a career. By extending the classroom in the workplace students can attain academic, technical and employability skills. Employers can also help teachers understand what today’s workplace is like and exactly what kinds of knowledge and skills they need from job applicants.

What are the student participation standards?

Our students are expected to meet your business or organization’s standards for professionalism, conduct and ethics. If needed, they can participate in background checks or confidentiality agreements.

What support will employers receive?

Our academy teachers will meet with employers prior to any student workplace experiences. Teachers are the primary contact for employers and will follow-up to personally receive any feedback offered.
